About Cresco Counselling & Psychotherapy
Jenny Edwards
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I hold an MSc in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Derby and have over 5 years experience working in the field of mental health. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their ethical guidelines.
My approach
I offer person-centred counselling sessions based on empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. I will help you to explore the reasons which have brought you to counselling without judgement and achieve your goals. We all have the potential to grow, thrive and self-actualise and it is my goal to support you in this process.
I think the most important element to counselling is space; space to reflect, think, talk, be listened to, feel understood and space to simply be without judgement. I aim to create this space by listening and building a safe, open relationship with you. Together we can use this space to help you develop tools and strategies to deal with life's stressors and become more confident within yourself and the world.
My Qualifications
Ongoing
Continuous CPD Training on different topics and approaches
Learning never ends so I attend different trainings and conferences to gain new knowledge. Some of the trainings I have been to include (but are not limited to):
Mindfulness in Practice - April 2018
Depression: A Compassionate View - January 2019
Introduction to Compassion Focussed Therapy - February 2020
Autism Awareness - February 2020
Working with Shame - January 2021
Pregnancy & Infant Loss Practitioner Training; Accredited by The Foundation for Infant Loss - March 2022
September 2017 - September 2020
MSc (Accred.) Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy
This 3 year University of Derby course incorporates learning about Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), the Person-Centred Approach, and Attachment Theory. The course is accredited by the BACP and combines theoretical and practical learning throughout. This helped me to become flexible in my approach to therapy, meaning every session is tailored to the individual client.
September 2013 - June 2016
BSc (Hons.) Joint Honours Psychology and Theatre Studies
My undergraduate degree at the University of Derby really set me on my path to becoming a counsellor and psychotherapist. This course sparked my fascination with psychology and the way our mind works which lead me to continue my studies. I also have a love for the performing arts and aim to incorporate my creative side into my practice.
